Philly
A collection of photos taken in Philly, Summer 2023.
With so much family in the city/region, I really should have more photos of Philly, but alas, I often find myself too busy trying to see everyone to actually pull out a camera! With 14 aunts and uncles (my dad’s five sisters, three brothers, and their spouses) and 25-odd cousins on that side alone, even a long weekend is usually filled up with plans. Regardless, the city remains one of my favorites and is the first city I really got to experience when I got the chance to take Hindi classes at Penn and live with my uncle for a few weeks back during some summer in high school. Since then, I still return on little pilgrimages once a year or so and mayyybe dream of life in a little Queen Village rowhome. These pictures were all taken on a trip to accompany my dad as he helped take care of his sister on a long weekend in Summer 2023. I find Philly’s transit beautiful and reminiscent of an earlier era in American transportation; its streetcars (of which I don’t have pictures) are particularly unique, and I love the classic look of its stainless steel-clad electrified commuter rail.
